The Role

Schonfeld is excited to offer an opportunity for exceptional individuals to join the internship program. You will spend ten weeks with an experienced technology team within the DMFI division, immersed in the culture and atmosphere of Schonfeld while working alongside talented professionals on high-profile projects.

What You’ll Do

You will collaborate with senior DMFI Technology developers to build high-performance software integrating with the analytics library. You will power live and historical market-data pipelines that directly enable Portfolio Managers to make critical, time-sensitive investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Streaming Live Data: Process ticking market data from multiple providers, delivering it to users within milliseconds.
  • Optimizing Time-Series: Build highly efficient historical datasets optimized for rapid trading analysis.
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Enhance every stage of the data pipeline: ingest ➜ clean ➜ store ➜ analyze ➜ deliver.
  • Risk & P&L Visibility: Contribute to pipelines that give PMs real-time and historical visibility into their market exposures.
  • Production Ownership: Own a summer-long analytics project from conception to production deployment for active business use.

What We Look For

  • Academic Background: Currently pursuing a degree in a technical or quantitative discipline.
  • Core Languages: Strong proficiency in Python; familiarity with Java is a plus.
  • Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Technical Edge: Exposure to real-time data-streaming technologies is highly advantageous.
  • Domain Interest: Coursework or a strong interest in capital markets and finance.

Our Internship

Kick-start your career in finance with the Schonfeld Summer Internship. Over the course of 10 weeks, you will build solutions that tackle real-world challenges and leave a lasting impact on the firm. The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $125,000 and $145,000, prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information available at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and level of education.
