What You Can Expect

As a Summer Intern in Global Markets, you will engage in a stimulating environment exploring our sophisticated financial solutions across asset classes.

Our teams operate in all major financial markets and develop sophisticated financial solutions to help clients manage risk, increase returns, and solve complex financial problems. Globally, we hold key positions across all major financial markets.

This is a nine-week program running from June to August, targeted at penultimate year or final year students and designed as a pipeline to the analyst programme the following year. Based on personal and collaborative achievements, those who successfully complete the program may receive offers of full-time employment for the analyst programme upon graduation.

You will support senior colleagues with important research, analysis, and preparatory work. You will monitor markets, develop trade ideas, conduct portfolio reviews, and learn about the solutions and products we offer for clients to manage any market conditions. Your work and contributions will be valuable to the team from the start. Expert instructors and J.P. Morgan professionals will teach you about the organisation’s history, the scale and scope of the business today, and ambitious plans for tomorrow. You will build technical and practical skills to help you hit the ground running.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop sophisticated financial solutions to help clients manage risk, increase returns, and solve complex financial problems.

Job Summary

As an Intern in the Global Markets team, you will join one of four tracks:

  • Trading: Gain insight into global markets. Trading provides liquidity to clients in all major asset classes and focuses on fast execution, market share, and e-trading platforms. The trader’s role is to respond to and encourage client enquiries, manage resulting risk, and understand and respond to market-moving events. This work is detail-focused, mentally stimulating, and requires detailed evaluations.
  • Structuring & Origination: Work with a dedicated team servicing structured product requirements for clients. The team offers a broad range of innovative investor products, liability management, and hedging solutions. J.P. Morgan provides derivatives products to institutional investors, distributors, corporates, and private investors.
  • Systematic Trading: Operate at the intersection of data science, algorithms, and financial markets by developing systematic trading solutions. Interns help design trading and execution strategies, analyse data patterns, enhance trading software and automation tools, support pricing, risk management, back-testing, and day-to-day trading performance.
  • Digital Markets: Support the development of digital distribution strategies and business efficiency across Global Markets through automation and innovation. Interns help prepare the business for future transformation by working with teams delivering digital solutions for external clients and internal stakeholders across the markets platform.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative (algebra, statistics, probability), and interpretative skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative work environment.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and resilient.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for the country to which you are applying.
  • Willing to take on some responsibility and manage your own projects in collaboration with your colleagues.
  • Graduation date from June 2027 to August 2028.
