Project Title
Wafer Sorter Tool Alarms & Robot Drifts Hit Rate Reduction
Project Objective
Alarm analysis to introduce preventative maintenance (PM) or an early detection method in order to reduce the alarm hit rate.
Project Description
- Learn the fundamentals of Metrology operation.
- Understand sorter operations and the fundamentals of robot operation.
- Develop and standardize a workflow for alarm handling on the sorter and characterize alarm causation.
- Understand various types of robots and their functions to develop a model to detect robot faults and drifts.
Project Outcome
For the Intern
- Able to understand semiconductor practices and metrology equipment.
- Able to understand wafer start-to-end practices.
- Exposure to tool maintenance and CIPs for foundry operations.
For the Company
- Reduce sorter alarms, minimizing additional scans and holds (~10%).
- Improve fault detection to prevent total failure and increase productivity.
- Extend (fan out) learnings to the rest of the metrology tool sets for better productivity.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Internship Details
- This application is for students undertaking a 20–24 week credit-bearing internship from June 2026 onwards.
