Internship Program Overview

Our Interns & Co-ops are GF’s entry-level talent pipeline across the globe. The program is designed to provide students with meaningful work experience and equip them with the skills to pursue a career in the fast-paced, growing semiconductor industry after graduation. Interns receive one-on-one mentorship, assignments that prioritize growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and chances to network with executives.

Summary of Role

Work with the Silicon Photonics TD engineer to prepare documents for process flow setup, summarize inline (e.g., thickness, CD) and test (Electrical and Optical) data, and perform analysis.

Essential Responsibilities

Guided by the TD Engineer or TD Senior Engineer, perform:

  • Fabricate and integrate Silicon Photonics process development by following process documentation and operating instructions
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure the device meets specifications and verify device performance
  • Document inline, electrical and optical test results and performance data analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may vary depending on project progress and/or company goals

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Optical/Electrical/Semiconductor) or a related field through an accredited degree program during the internship
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship
  • Available for a 16–24 week credit-bearing internship commencing January 2027

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter and navigate ambiguity
  • Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making
  • Strong self-motivation and interest in Silicon Photonics technology
