The Institute is a four-year employment commitment from day one rather than a 12-month sponsored internship, so a school-leaver candidate is choosing a paid engineering career path over a conventional university route — that decision is made at application time and not deferred.

Dyson states in its early-careers FAQ that "work permit/visa regulations do vary by location and are subjected to local immigration laws and policies outside of Dyson's control", and that applications from candidates needing sponsorship are reviewed case-by-case against business need and the role's location.
