What this job involves

Supporting the team

You will work side-by-side with the team to ensure the success of a project—from the tendering stage, to design phase, through construction, and to completion. Projects are many and varied, including variations in project dollar value and complexity. You will be exposed to fit-outs and refurbishments for both tenants and landlords in commercial, retail, industrial, hospitality, and education.

Managing multiple projects concurrently

You will coordinate with multiple vendors to ensure no downtime during works. You will be involved in preparing project specifications and project timelines, preparing tender or bid documents and vendor procurement, and compiling weekly project reports and updates for stakeholders. Delivering projects within established budgets and timelines is key.

Our successful Assistant Cost Manager

• Prepare tender pricing and cost estimations, source quotations, perform cost evaluation, and prepare cost comparisons.
• Prepare high-level cost estimations / pre-tender estimates in short turnaround times.
• Review and understand tender documents, specifications, and drawings for taking off quantities.
• Confer with engineers, architects, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
• Compile bill of quantities, tender documents/amendments, and support tender bid submission.
• Compare and negotiate prices with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate contract/subcontract works and carry out other contract administration with clients and vendors.
• Maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures; prepare and issue PO and verify supplier invoices for payment.
• Manage the procurement process via JLL’s cloud-based platform for all procurement.
• Research and evaluate prospective suppliers.
• On-board and pre-qualify vendors to JLL standards; expand the current vendor pool in the directory.
• Maintain positive relationships with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Thrive under pressure and deal effectively with tight deadlines and high expectations.
• Experience in interior fit-out works preferred.
• Any other duties as assigned.

We employ talent from a wide range of backgrounds. Typically, you should have:

• A degree or diploma in a relevant field, and/or at least one to two years’ experience as a QS in an interior design firm, D&B or contractor firm, or in a similar position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and be technologically savvy.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail, with a sense of urgency when solving problems, improving products or services, finding new markets, and implementing new strategies.
