Elevate also provides meaningful opportunities to deepen industry knowledge, enhance leadership capabilities, and develop the confidence needed to make an immediate impact in your internship and future career.

Conference

Participate in a three-day leadership conference in one of RSM’s major office locations from January 5–8, 2027. All travel and expenses for conference participation will be covered by RSM upon admittance into the program.

Program Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in accounting.
  • Anticipated full-time associate start date of Fall 2029 or Winter 2030.
  • Demonstrated involvement and leadership in student organizations on campus and in your community.
  • Team player with strong communication skills, motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, desire to be client focused, and interest in learning how to provide skilled advisory services.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.4 GPA (preferred).

Risk Consulting – Process Risk & Controls (Financial Services) Internship — Summer 2028

As a Risk Consulting Financial Services Intern at RSM, you will work across the five sectors within our Financial Services practice, including Financial Institutions, Capital Markets, Insurance, Specialty Finance (including Fintech), and Asset Management. You will have exposure to various financial services topics, concepts, and transactions including ESG, Digital Assets and Blockchain, regulatory matters, and credit and interest rate risk through hands-on client experience. You will work directly with client personnel at various management levels.

At the start of your internship, you’ll be assigned a “Performance Advisor” focused in our Financial Services industry team, who will support your development throughout the internship experience.

RSM’s Risk Consulting Financial Services Industry Group provides value-added risk assessment services to financial services companies. You will have exposure to a wide variety of financial services transactions, products, and services. Examples of projects include internal audits (including SOX), regulatory compliance remediation and advisory, credit review, and financial reporting control projects intended to provide clients with timely information on business operations and methods to mitigate potential risks.

Example Responsibilities

  • Attend client meetings and support process engagements.
  • Prepare reports on consulting services performed for clients; deliver reports where appropriate and discuss results and recommendations with clients.
  • Travel to client locations as requested to provide consulting services.
  • Complete client projects efficiently in accordance with project timelines and critical dates.
  • Use proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to analyze client information and document results and recommendations.
  • Opportunity to attend specific conferences, trainings, and meetings to continue professional development relevant to the role.

Internship & Program Requirements

  • 90 credit hours completed (at point of internship).
  • Working toward a B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Major in Accounting.
  • Travel to assigned client locations may be required. Must have access to and ability to arrange reliable modes of transportation to those locations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Strong multi-tasking and project management skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity and professionalism.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $34–$40 per hour

Elevate is an elective professional development experience designed to help you grow and build your future with RSM prior to your internship experience. Compensation is not provided for participation in Elevate; however, conference-related travel and participation expenses will be covered by RSM. Any compensation associated with your RSM internship will begin only upon commencement of your internship employment with RSM. Participation in Elevate is voluntary, is not a condition of internship employment or internship eligibility, and is separate from internship employment with RSM.
