Investment Analyst – Liability Driven Investment (LDI) Portfolio Management (Hybrid)
Mercer is looking to recruit a talented Investment Analyst to join our Liability Driven Investment (LDI) Portfolio Management Team. The LDI team sits within our Direct Investment Unit (DIU), which operates as an in-house asset manager for the Mercer business. This is a hybrid working role, based out of our London office 3 days per week.
In this role, you will support the LDI Portfolio Management team with high-quality analytical, reporting, and tooling support across a range of portfolio management activities. It is a strong opportunity to join the Asset Management side of the business, with exposure to government bonds and UK derivatives, and the chance to develop into a future Portfolio Manager.
The successful candidate will help improve efficiency, strengthen data quality, and enhance the team’s ability to monitor and manage client portfolios.
What You’ll Do
- Support the LDI Portfolio Management team with day-to-day analytical and operational tasks.
- Produce accurate and timely portfolio analytics, reporting packs, and management information.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance tooling and reporting solutions to improve team efficiency and portfolio oversight.
- Assist with data extraction, validation, and reconciliation across internal systems and external inputs.
- Help monitor portfolio performance, exposures, and risk metrics, and contribute to portfolio reviews and governance materials.
What You Need to Have
- A degree in finance, mathematics, economics, engineering, data science, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills, with experience using data, reporting, and analytics tools.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work to tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience or interest in LDI, fixed income, derivatives, or broader investment concepts.
- Exposure to Python, SQL, VBA Macros, Power BI, or similar tooling.
- Progress toward, or interest in, CFA or actuarial qualifications.
- A proactive approach to process improvement and automation.
- Ambition to grow into a Portfolio Manager role in the future.
Qualifications & Eligibility Considered
We are happy to consider a recent graduate in finance, mathematics, economics, engineering, data science, or a related discipline, or candidates with 1–3 years of experience in a similar role who are progressing towards CFA or Actuarial level.
Why Join Our Team
- Professional development opportunities, engaging work, and supportive leadership.
- A vibrant and inclusive culture where you can collaborate with talented colleagues to create innovative solutions and make a meaningful impact for clients, colleagues, and communities.
- A range of career opportunities, alongside benefits and rewards designed to enhance your well-being.
Hybrid working: Marsh is committed to hybrid work, including flexibility to work remotely and the collaboration benefits of working in the office. All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week, with each office-based team identifying at least one “anchor day” per week when their full team is together in person.
