Job Summary

An Intern in the BDO Advisory practice begins to utilize their educational background, analytical skills, and organizational skills while supporting the firm’s dynamic client base. The Resilience Intern assists the consulting team with the design and operationalization of risk and resilience programs, including enterprise risk, operational risk, third-party risk, business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, and insurance. Working side-by-side with more experienced team members, this role provides exposure to client delivery, technology enablement, product management, research, documentation review, workshop support, and the development of client work products.

Job Duties

  • Assists with the development of client solutions, including risk analytic frameworks, policies, training materials, plans, and procedures.
  • Participates in engagement fact-finding, including review of existing client documentation, data, and discussions with client contacts.
  • Supports requirements gathering and documentation for business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, third-party risk, and enterprise risk programs.
  • Assists with the preparation and tailoring of PowerPoint presentations, reports, workshop materials, client work products, and statements of work.
  • Participates in client workshops and internal working sessions, documenting key discussion points, findings, follow-ups, and conclusions.
  • Compiles program metrics and performs basic research or analysis using documented procedures, available tools, and guidance from the engagement team.
  • Tracks assigned work progress and keeps engagement team members informed of status, open items, and potential issues.
  • Supports business development and internal practice initiatives, including client research and proposal support, as assigned.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems (MIS), Risk Management, required.

Experience

  • Professional client service experience, preferred.

License/Certifications

  • N/A

Software

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferred.
  • Proficient in artificial intelligence (AI) tools, preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Strong interest in insurance management, risk management, corporate crisis management, crisis communications, and/or business continuity.
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills related to the retrieval and organization of information.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently or within a group environment.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
  • Demonstrates initiative and a solution-oriented mindset when supporting complex or ambiguous tasks.
  • General familiarity with insurance-related knowledge:
    • Policy review, contract interpretation, and insurance specification compliance.
    • Client advisory skills in premiums, retentions, limits, and total cost of risk.
    • Regulatory and industry knowledge related to commercial insurance programs.
    • Claims trend analysis, loss run review, and program performance monitoring.

Compensation Range

Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

  • California Range: $40.00/hr - $45.00/hr
  • Colorado Range: $34.00/hr - $38.00/hr
  • Illinois Range: $36.00/hr - $40.00/hr
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $36.00/hr - $40.00/hr
