Internships — UK GPU Team (Apple Silicon)

The UK GPU team works on IPs that are part of Apple’s world-class GPU designs for Apple Silicon SoCs. You will be at the centre of a chip design effort working with multiple disciplines, with critical impact on delivering high-performance products to millions of customers efficiently.

These internships can be based in London (Bishopsgate), St Albans, or Cambridge. You may express your location preferences if selected for interview.

Internship Description
Design Verification
You will help create comprehensive verification plans and contribute to test bench development—from stimulating real-world scenarios to ensuring designs are robust and complete. You will collaborate closely with expert architects and designers to identify and address issues early in the design cycle.
With hands-on mentorship, you will implement key components of verification flows and sharpen your debugging skills while tackling complex test bench and design challenges.
Emulation (Graphics Emulation Intern)
You will develop skills across accelerated platforms such as emulation, including building GPU models, running graphics workloads on those models, debugging and resolving potential issues, and contributing to the infrastructure workflow.
You will also be exposed to an automation portal that ties together these areas using a modern web user interface and a sophisticated backend. The team partners with groups that use emulation for functional, performance, and power verification, providing opportunities to collaborate across teams and strengthen communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At the end of the internship, you must return to school to continue your education, or the internship must be the last requirement for you to graduate.
- Strong coding skills with C or C++.
- Strong understanding of common data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Curiosity about GPU/CPU/SoC architecture and micro-architecture.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and remain productive under tight schedules.
- Familiarity with SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL.
- Prior experience with hardware description languages.
