Fall 2026 Internship

The Fall College Internship Program is a paid co-op/internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and participate in the company. College interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored by their respective managers, and continue to develop throughout the fall. Through the program, interns may also attend development workshops focused on key business concepts.

Interns may work within skills-based tracks including: Information Technology, Business Administration, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical and/or technical degree programs.

  • Paid internship/co-op.
  • May reside in either a technical or non-technical area.
  • Housing is not provided as part of the internships/co-ops.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Specific duties will vary by assignment; divisional callouts are listed below.
  • Fall Innovation & AI Interns will support the development of an enterprise AI-powered Appeals & Grievances solution being developed in partnership with the Advocacy organization. This initiative aligns with the Innovation & AI Center of Excellence strategy to improve operational efficiency, reduce administrative burden, accelerate decision-making, and scale AI capabilities across core healthcare operations.

    The project focuses on transforming a highly manual, document-intensive workflow into a streamlined, AI-assisted process that supports intake, case preparation, clinical review, decision support, and member communications. Current work completed by the Summer 2026 Innovation & AI cohort has demonstrated opportunities to improve case review and decision support, with expansion into upstream intake, routing, case preparation, and downstream notification workflows.

  • Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects.
  • Responsible for work assignments and possible responsibilities that vary by business need and departmental opportunities, in addition to the student’s qualifications.
  • Functions performed are non-technical and/or technical in nature and will cover a broad range of business-related projects.
  • Creates and delivers a presentation at completion of the internship.

  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with corporate privacy policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Desired majors include Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or similar degree programs.
  • Preferred skills or experience with: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and/or Databricks.
  • High school diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and deliver high-quality work product.
  • Ability to work well in a team and establish good working relationships with peers.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, demonstrating creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter-departmental teams where needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.

Compensation Range(s)

  • Level I: Minimum $18.00 - Maximum $20.00
  • Level II: Minimum $21.00 - Maximum $23.00
