Houlihan Lokey has the largest worldwide financial restructuring practice of any investment banking firm, with offices and experienced professionals located across the globe. Since its inception in 1988, the restructuring group has advised on more than 1,900 restructuring transactions with aggregate debt claims in excess of $4 trillion. With nearly 300 dedicated restructuring professionals worldwide, the group has a significant global presence and serves clients domestically and around the world, providing extensive resources to staff each case.

The broad client base and extensive experience allow the group to understand the dynamics of each restructuring situation and the needs, attitudes, and positions of all parties in interest.

Responsibilities

The Financial Restructuring Group is looking for a Summer Financial Analyst in our Hong Kong office.

Restructuring Summer Financial Analysts work specifically with the group, assisting with a variety of transactions, including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed M&A. Summer Financial Analysts are given exposure to projects across various financial advisory and investment banking products and industries, including:

• Advising companies and stakeholders in out-of-court and in-court restructurings
• Raising debt and equity financings
• Providing distressed M&A advisory services
• Advising in special situations with elements of distressed investing
• Participating in complex negotiations on behalf of the client

Summer Financial Analysts are typically members of deal teams comprising at least one managing director, vice president, associate, and financial analyst.

Requirements / Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

• Strong academic track record and hold or be on track for a 2:1 degree in accounting, economics and/or finance
• Top academic performer and a quick learner capable of performing in an unstructured environment
• A demonstrated interest in restructuring
• Prior investment banking internship experience (M&A or an industry team), leverage finance or restructuring desirable but not essential
• Thorough understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
• Strong quantitative, financial, and analytical skills
• Strong LBO and DCF modeling skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• An exceptional strong work ethic
• Graduation date of Summer 2028

The candidate must be motivated and able to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a rapidly changing, demanding, but ultimately rewarding environment. The position is for a Summer Analyst Class of 2027 (i.e., Graduate Class of 2028 Financial Analyst).
