About VFX

VFX Financial is one of the UK’s fastest-growing FinTechs, helping complex organisations move, manage, and protect money across borders. Built for specialist sectors, multi-jurisdiction structures, and high-compliance environments, we support businesses whose needs go beyond standard banking. We’re selective about who we work with because exceptional service requires focus and commitment.

With six international offices, five regulatory licences, and an 83% CAGR over the past three years, we’re scaling rapidly and earning industry recognition along the way, including the Financial Times FT1000: Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies 2026, CNBC UK’s Top Fintech Companies 2025, Wealth & Finance FinTech Awards 2026, and the Business Growth Award from Business Awards UK.

Behind it all is a team of ambitious VFXers united by collective ownership, a focus on growth, and a shared passion for solving complex problems.

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Transaction Monitoring Analyst with 1–2 years of experience in Transaction Monitoring, AML, Financial Crime, Compliance Operations, or a related risk function. This role is suited to someone who can confidently investigate alerts, identify suspicious activity, and take ownership of complex financial crime investigations.

Alongside day-to-day monitoring activities, you’ll use data and insights to identify trends, improve processes, and help shape how Transaction Monitoring evolves as VFX continues to scale.

About the Team

Our Transaction Monitoring team is responsible for identifying and investigating potentially suspicious activity across VFX’s global payments and FX platform.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll review and assess transaction monitoring alerts, analyse customer behaviour, investigate unusual activity, and determine whether escalation is required. You’ll be expected to apply a risk-based approach to decision-making while maintaining high-quality documentation and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Monitoring & Investigations

  • Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts relating to AML, fraud, sanctions, and other financial crime risks.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of customer activity, transactional behaviour, and source of funds information.
  • Identify unusual patterns, emerging risks, and potentially suspicious activity across the customer base.
  • Make informed risk-based decisions and escalate higher-risk cases where appropriate.
  • Prepare clear investigation summaries, case narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain high-quality case handling standards while managing competing priorities and investigation workloads.
  • Ensure all investigations are completed within established SLAs and regulatory requirements.
  • Draft and submit Internal Suspicious Activity Reports (ISARs) where suspicious activity has been identified, ensuring submissions are clear, accurate, and supported by robust evidence.
  • Work closely with Financial Crime and MLRO teams to support external SAR submissions where required.

Data Analysis & Monitoring Effectiveness

  • Analyse transactional data to identify financial crime trends, typologies, control gaps, and emerging risks.
  • Manipulate and interpret large data sets using Excel and other internal tools to support investigations, deep dives, and thematic reviews.
  • Support the production of management information (MI), trend analysis, and risk reporting.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance transaction monitoring coverage, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Use data-driven insights to challenge existing processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner effectively with Compliance, Operations, Risk, Onboarding, and Commercial teams.
  • Share insights on financial crime trends, typologies, and emerging risks.
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Bring fresh ideas and challenge existing ways of working to help strengthen financial crime controls and customer outcomes.
  • Lead or support initiatives aimed at improving alert quality, investigation standards, team productivity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support testing, tuning, and optimisation of transaction monitoring controls where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Experience investigating transaction monitoring alerts and documenting clear risk-based decisions.
  • Experience preparing Internal SARs or escalating suspicious activity through appropriate governance channels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data to support investigations and identify trends.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgement and knowing when to escalate.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Excel functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filtering, and data analysis techniques.
  • Exposure to transaction monitoring rule tuning, alert optimisation, or thematic reviews.
  • Experience working within a fintech, payments, FX, banking, or e-money environment.
