Field Service Engineer – London / South East England

A Field Service Engineer will install, support, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all supported products in their assigned region to ensure service agreements and warranty obligations are fulfilled, exceeding customer expectations. This role requires expertise in IT and Communication systems, along with excellent customer service and communication skills.

Job Duties

  • Attend incidents in a timely manner to meet SLAs and restore customer equipment to working condition.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance activities for your assigned area, including system inspections, preventive maintenance, and software updates and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair (“break/fix”) using basic test equipment, in accordance with procedures and within designated timeframes.
  • Complete administrative duties, including spare parts inventory (up to TEA2), field activity reports, return material authorisations, and expense reports, within prescribed timeframes.
  • Provide feedback to the team leader and participate in continuous improvement projects to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Maintain all aspects of your assigned region, including responding to customer needs, maintaining system configurations, managing customer contacts, and building rapport with the assigned customer base.
  • Work as part of a regional team, supporting team members and teams in other regions.
  • Join an “on call” rota to provide 24/7/365 support to customers.

Qualifications & Skills

  • IT literate with an IT background in various forms, including experience as a Field Engineer.
  • Excellent customer-facing skills.
  • Desktop: Microsoft Windows 11 and 10.
  • Server and Storage: Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and above.
  • Active Directory and WSUS.
  • Microsoft Hyper-V and/or knowledge of other virtualisation technologies.
  • Networking skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites (including potentially other regions).
  • Ability to approach situations with a cool head, using logical and methodical problem-solving.
  • Training will be provided to expand knowledge and skill base.

Desirable

  • Experience of “ICCS” and/or working in a secure/control room environment.
  • Working knowledge of radio systems (e.g., DMR/TETRA and/or Airwave).
  • Networking (Cisco) literacy or qualification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL.

  • Due to strict UK security clearance requirements and right to work, applicants must be eligible. Candidates must be able to demonstrate pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK, with documentary evidence required.

  • Depending on the nature of the role, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check may be required.
