Mechanical Engineer (Unmanned Aircraft Systems)

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and support the development of mechanical and structural systems for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The role includes performing stress, thermal, and kinematic analyses; developing CAD models and engineering documentation; supporting prototyping and testing; and collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure robust and reliable system performance.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, structural, and installation design work for UAS and relevant sub-systems.
• Size components for mechanical system designs.
• Conduct analyses related to structural integrity for UAS flight-critical systems, including stress, weight and balance, and kinematics.
• Perform engineering tests associated with UAS designs, including thermal, stress, weight and balance, and kinematics.
• Prepare engineering documentation such as design reports, weight and balance reports, stress analysis reports, and engineering drawings.
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings for UAS and relevant sub-systems.
• Prepare 3D printed parts (additive manufacturing) for prototypes.
• Maintain configuration control of design data in accordance with the process.
• Provide backup support for UAS operations (weekdays and weekends).
• Support operations by providing CFMS code for flight (weekdays and weekends).
• Coordinate with vendors on fabrication and design work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with FEA tools.
• Proficiency with CAD software for mechanical design and drawings (SolidWorks).
• Product design or industrial design experience is preferred.
• Basic skills and knowledge to perform stress and thermal analysis.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding.
• Ability to support overseas deployment if required.
• Ability to communicate, read, and generate technical reports in English.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
