About the Team
The Subscriptions R&D team oversees the end-to-end user journey on Spotify and helps engage people in innovative ways at every step. The team grows Spotify’s audience by finding future listeners around the world and delivering the right value to them at the right time. With research, product development, product design, engineering, and marketing working together in one organization, the team can quickly create meaningful features and services for millions of people worldwide, leading to joyful, long-lasting relationships with Spotify.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and evolve mobile experiences across some of Spotify’s most visible consumer surfaces.
- Contribute to the architecture and development of reusable mobile foundations, frameworks, and platform capabilities.
- Support and develop technical initiatives that improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer experience across the Spotify app.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and platform teams to shape product direction and technical strategy.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, driving quality through testing practices, observability, and operational excellence.
- Participate in experimentation and prototyping efforts related to future-facing content and listening experiences.
- Explore modern engineering workflows, including AI-assisted development tools and emerging mobile technologies.
- Balance short-term product needs with long-term platform sustainability and technical health.
- Learn, grow, and contribute to Spotify’s engineering culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and curiosity.
Who You Are
- Experience developing iOS applications using Swift.
- Knowledge of how to build maintainable, scalable, reusable, and well-tested software systems.
- Experience collaborating with engineers and colleagues across disciplines.
- A strong focus on code quality, testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability.
- Curiosity, ownership, and willingness to step outside your immediate area of expertise when needed.
- Interest in modern development tooling, including AI-assisted coding solutions.
- A growth mindset and a habit of continuously looking for opportunities to learn and improve systems, products, and team practices.
- Familiarity with SQL, analytics systems, or data engineering concepts (preferred/optional as indicated).
Where You’ll Be
- Work location flexibility: you can be within the EMEA region as long as Spotify has a work location (excluding France due to on-call restrictions).
- This team collaborates primarily within the Central European and GMT time zones.
