Application Support Engineer

Job Description

• Be responsible for the trading applications of Equities & Derivatives Trading (Stocks, ETF, Warrants, Options & Futures) on various APAC markets in Windows/Linux platform.
• Support traders by troubleshooting and diagnosing functional and technical issues in the production environment.
• Manage and track daily production problems and user requests; ensure effective and timely resolution and communication to the client; report bugs back to local or overseas development teams.
• Handle business-driven or exchange-driven projects.
• Conduct system Quality Assurance testing, and perform deployment or upgrade of mission-critical trading applications and systems.
• Ensure adequate performance and operation of the systems — monitor performance/operation, diagnose and address any problems.
• Follow ITIL Application Support methodology to carry out incident escalation and system change management procedures.
• Provide system and process documentation.
• Morning/Lunch shift duty, weekend and holiday work are required.
• Enhance the automation and resilience of production systems to improve operational efficiency and uptime.

Qualifications

Technical

• Good technical and scripting knowledge on a Linux/Unix environment.
• Proficiency with Python and shell scripting.
• Proficiency with network protocols such as TCP, UDP, and FIX.
• Proficiency in Excel/VBA (huge plus).

Functional / Other Skills

• Good business knowledge of cash and derivatives products and market rules.
• Experience with system monitoring.
• Takes initiative and is results-driven.
• Strong decision-making and analytical skills.
• Ability to innovate and work well in a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in English.

Qualifications and Experience

• University qualification with IT major.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in trading support.

Other Value-added Competencies

• Experience with batch scheduling systems.
• Knowledge of fixed income products is a plus.
