Assistant Designer - WW Footwear

About the Role

As an Assistant Designer, you will work closely with the Senior Designers on ASOS DESIGN FOOTWEAR, supporting the design of all areas of shoes and creating trend-led ranges for our twenty-something customer. What You’ll Be Doing

• Researching, developing, and designing ranges for ASOS DESIGN Footwear across all categories of footwear for both casual and dressy product areas.
• Identifying key trends, shapes, and first-to-market styles with commercial viability to deliver the most fashion-forward range for our global customer base.
• Creating mood and colour boards to shape and develop the footwear range, predicting trends for the season. This may include shop, social media, catwalk, street style reports, cultural moments, and sourcing new fabrications and trimmings.
• Working with buying teams to react to sales information and present design ideas, developing products to drive the range.
• Building relationships with suppliers and advising factories on direction, construction, key details, materials, and trims.
• Anticipating the needs of our twenty-something customer using sales data, customer profile analytics, and trend research to deliver a commercial product range.
• Adhering to the critical path to meet deadlines, ensuring product is developed for the relevant and optimum selling period.
• Collaborating with the technical team on initial fits, identifying and helping to solve problems for the department.
• Researching and developing unique products for both long lead-time projects and quick-reaction, short-lead ranges.

Qualifications

• Previous footwear design experience for an aspirational brand or high-street retailer.
• Experience working with Far East, European, and UK suppliers.
• Strong commercial handwriting and a clear understanding of the ASOS brand and customer.
• Passionate about fashion with a strong trend focus; a fashion-forward eye is essential.
• Preferred skills: Photoshop, Adobe, CAD, PLM, and hand sketching.
• Experience executing tech packs and sketches for footwear product development.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to use initiative and perform in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to build excellent relationships with colleagues across the business and with suppliers.
• Confident in presenting new and exciting ideas to line managers, the wider team, and senior leadership.
• Ability to identify product opportunities and help drive the brand forward.
• Comfortable traveling in the UK and internationally for supplier/product development meetings and inspirational purposes.
