Job Summary

Are you fashion-focused, inspired by trends, and passionate about hair and make-up? If so, this Hair & Make-Up Artist role could be for you. The ASOS Hair and Make-Up Team plays a crucial role within the production department, working with the wider studio team to ensure ASOS models look their best at all times.

As an ASOS Hair & Make-Up Artist, you will work with your peers to bring to life the ever-evolving ASOS Creative. You’ll be responsible for making sure every model looks and feels ASOS-ready throughout their shoot day. The role requires an unflappable, driven, and hardworking individual with a passion for the brand, and the ability to support a team with a creative, strategic, and operational mindset. You must be passionate about hairstyling, make-up, and fashion.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Produce a great standard of hair & make-up that is true to the ASOS aesthetic and appeals to the ASOS customer
  • Work to deadlines to ensure models are shoot-ready on time
  • Build relationships and rapport with ASOS models to instil trust in your hair and make-up abilities and within the wider production department
  • Deal with model issues professionally and in line with ASOS behaviours policy
  • Work alongside the model booking team to maximise each model’s potential and create the best ASOS shoot experience
  • Collaborate with the wider shoot team to solve issues on set and help facilitate a smooth shoot process
  • Work under the guidance of your senior to produce, develop, and execute the looks
  • Take feedback constructively, with the ability to critique your own work efficiently
  • Attend hair and make-up courses set up by the business to up-skill yourself
  • Be a responsible member of the studio team, facilitating smooth communication across different shoot locations
  • Follow all creative and operational hair and make-up and wider studio processes
  • Maintain a full understanding of the ASOS customer and target audience
  • Stay aware of the latest and upcoming trends, following each season’s catwalk shows, influencers, TikTok, competitors, and street styles
  • Carry out daily administrative tasks
  • Contribute to problem-solving through meetings and 1:1s with your lead
  • Maintain and clean equipment and products daily to ensure a professional and sanitary working environment
  • Contribute to team and departmental meetings
  • Be recognised as an aspirational figure within your team and the wider department
  • Support ASOS culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies

Qualifications

We’d love to meet someone with:

  • Previous professional make-up artistry skills (essential)
  • Confidence with all skin tones & textures (essential)
  • Experience with all hair texture types, including basic experience in wigs, weaves, and extensions (required)
  • Previous fashion e-commerce experience (favourable)
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work well under time pressures, stay calm in a fast-paced environment, and remain proactive and professional
  • The ability to rapidly adapt to change and remain positive
  • Strong attention to detail to present the product in the best way possible
  • An eye for both hair and make-up, ensuring the two work together to create a complete look
  • A positive response to feedback and areas for improvement, with the ability to provide solutions where possible
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise daily tasks
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint
  • A willingness to learn, grow, and be a team player
  • Be a dedicated team player who is eager to learn and can grasp new information quickly
