Job Description

Global payments are complex and ever-evolving. At Checkout, our software engineers develop next-generation payments technologies that boost merchant acceptance rates, reduce processing costs, fight fraud, and create cutting-edge customer experiences.

We’re looking for Software Engineers who bring fresh ideas, have a curious nature, and are passionate about working in an engineering environment focused on building products that align with the company’s strategic goals. You’ll collaborate with teams across Checkout’s portfolio of products and services, all driven by a customer-first philosophy.

As a Software Engineer, you will lead and drive specific projects critical to Checkout’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business grows. We value versatility, leadership, and enthusiasm for tackling new problems across the full stack as we push technology forward. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, Java, or Go, with a strong understanding of software development principles in a backend or full-stack environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience working in agile environments and delivering high-quality code within tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • AI proficiency or AI curiosity; a drive to embrace the latest technology to enhance productivity
  • Payments or financial knowledge is a plus, but not required

How you’ll make an impact

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management within a large engineering community
  • Define and design loosely coupled, scalable systems in a microservices architecture using industry best practices
  • Stay up-to-date with, use, and share knowledge of Checkout’s latest technologies
  • Write clean, maintainable, extensible, and testable code on impactful systems
  • Build, own, and operate your systems to high levels of resilience and service quality
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to their technical development
