Junior Java Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to support the development and maintenance of enterprise-level Java applications. This role involves working closely with team members to design, build, enhance, and support software solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in Java technologies, is willing to learn industry best practices, and is keen to build a career in enterprise application development.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise Java applications across the SDLC
• Assist in enhancing existing applications to improve performance and stability
• Participate in system integration testing and help troubleshoot application issues
• Perform unit testing using standard testing frameworks
• Work with team members to deliver solutions aligned with business requirements
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Follow development standards and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, IT, or a related field
• Hands-on knowledge and experience in Java programming
• Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Knowledge and experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL)
• Familiarity with REST APIs or web services is an advantage
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Understanding and exposure to the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Able to work both independently and in a team
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Good to Have

• Exposure to Spring / Spring Boot
• Basic knowledge of unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit)
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Internship or academic project experience in Java development

This role requires eligibility for a government security clearance (CAT 1) and, due to project requirements, is open only to Singapore Citizens.
