Location & Work Arrangement

Role Summary

The incumbent will be a corporate finance professional supporting corporate coverage across an industry vertical lending business. A critical function is to assess risk factors associated with a credit profile to determine an appropriate risk rating and credit hold level based on established policies and guidelines. Responsibilities include managing a designated client portfolio, applying analytical and credit validation skills, and providing continuous oversight of portfolio names to monitor changes in credit profiles (upgrades, downgrades, deterioration) with the aim of maximizing net income and reducing credit costs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of a commercial loan portfolio within a segment of an industry vertical
  • Perform due diligence and regular evaluations of the assigned loan portfolio, which may change relative to the client portfolio
  • Prepare detailed credit analyses and required credit applications in accordance with policy, evaluating corporate, regulatory, and industry risk, historical and projected operating performance, and capital structure
  • Ensure timely coordination and communication of account information across constituencies
  • Maintain understanding of macro-level country/risk factors
  • Stay current on relevant industries and events affecting the assigned portfolio using internal and external sources
  • Provide oversight of covenant compliance, facility closing due diligence, legal documentation, and ongoing monitoring of credit conditions for assigned accounts
  • Attend relationship manager (RM) customer meetings as appropriate
  • Engage in special projects as assigned

Advanced Credit / Underwriting Solutions

  • Work within a deal team supporting Senior Portfolio Managers in developing and analyzing financing structures to support or identify LBO, M&A, and corporate recapitalization opportunities
  • Pre-screen proposed transactions to identify structural issues and risks, balancing policy with business development needs
  • Work on structured credit transactions (including financial solution opportunities, securitizations, supply chain, specialized leasing, and up-tier proposals)
  • Maintain base industry knowledge of represented industries, including technical aspects, regulatory issues, and credit product activity
  • Participate in client and bank meetings as necessary

Policy and Deal Advocacy

  • Assist Senior Portfolio Managers in communicating and negotiating with CDA for transaction approval, including final hold level strategies to align risk and policy
  • Evaluate and establish appropriate ratings for transactions and corresponding exposure levels at the transaction and group level
  • Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements

Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years of substantive portfolio management, corporate credit, or related credit/analytical experience
  • Completion of a formal credit-training program at a money-center bank is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, or related discipline; CFA is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, financial, and balanced decision-making skills
  • Advanced financial modeling skills required for credit applications and Quarterly Credit Watch presentations

Compensation & Benefits

The typical base pay range for this role is $100,000–$110,000, depending on knowledge, skills, experience, and location. The role may be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
