About the business area
Ever wondered how entrepreneurs, founders and high-net-worth individuals manage millions – or even billions – in assets? That’s where Private Banking comes in.
At HSBC’s Global Private Bank, we work with some of the world’s most affluent clients (high-net-worth), helping them grow, manage and protect their wealth across investments, lending and long-term financial planning.
This three-day, London-based Spring Insight Programme gives you an inside view on what that world is like – and how you could build a career in it.
Who you are
You don’t need to come from a finance background. You don’t need family connections in banking. And you don’t need prior experience. What you do need is curiosity, drive and a genuine interest in a potential career in this space.
- You’re curious about how wealth is managed
- You’re interested in working with people and building trusted relationships
- You enjoy analysing information and forming opinions
- You’re thoughtful and detail-focused
- You’re motivated to understand the world of finance and how it impacts real people, their lives and their families
You don’t need finance expertise, but you should be able to explain:
- Why Private Banking appeals to you
- What you’ve learned about the industry
- Why you think you’d thrive in a relationship-focused environment
We care about your motivation – not your background.
What you’ll do
Over three days in London, you’ll:
- Discover how our Relationship Managers work with high-net-worth clients
- Explore how Investment, Credit and Advisory teams collaborate to meet client needs
- Tackle real-world case studies based on client scenarios
- Analyse market information and present your thinking
- Hear from current interns, graduates and senior leaders
- Learn how the Insight → Internship → Graduate pathway works
This isn’t just shadowing – it’s an opportunity to step into the mindset of someone working in Private Banking and build real-world experience.
Perform strongly during the programme and you could be considered for our internship programmes, which can lead to our graduate roles in Private Banking.
What you’ll learn
- Understand what Private Banking involves
- Know what skills are needed to succeed
- Feel more confident in professional environments
- Gain clarity on whether this career path is right for you
