About the business area
Our Group Infrastructure teams are the foundation of HSBC, providing essential support across technology, operations and key central business services for our global businesses and functions. We play a vital role in driving great experiences for customers and colleagues and enabling the bank’s strategy. We offer a broad range of career opportunities across Group Chief Information Office (GCIO), Group Chief Operating Office (GCOO) and Global Functions.
Who you are
We’re looking for people who are always seeking better ways to do things. You’re curious about how things work, enjoy tackling challenges, and handle change with ease.
- A natural collaborator: You’re comfortable building relationships across teams, countries and cultures, using open communication to share knowledge and deliver results.
- An analytical thinker: You’re confident with numbers – you simplify complex information, turn data into insights, and create smart, logical solutions that drive change.
- A clear, digital-first communicator: You present complex ideas simply – whether in person or in writing – using tools like Excel, PowerPoint and Word to structure information that can build trust and influence results.
- Eager to learn: You’re adaptable, curious, and quick to embrace new tools, environments and ways of working.
- Ownership-minded: You take initiative and understand project-management basics – planning, prioritising and tracking risks and milestones – to help deliver change.
What you’ll do
Here’s a taste of what you’ll work on:
- Work with stakeholders to understand problems, ask the right questions, and agree what success looks like
- Gather and analyse information (data, documents, process steps, feedback) to spot patterns, risks, and opportunities
- Turn findings into clear options and recommendations that support decision-making
- Create concise materials (e.g., slides, summaries, simple process maps, trackers) to communicate progress and next steps
- Support delivery by coordinating actions, tracking risks and milestones, and helping remove blockers
- Test and refine improvements with teams, learning what works in practice and helping embed change
What you’ll learn
This is a structured 24-month programme designed to accelerate your career and give you broad exposure to HSBC’s Group Infrastructure function. You’ll gain the technical knowledge and professional skills you need to thrive.
Here’s what’s in store:
- Targeted training: Receive on-the-job training, work on real-world projects and develop hands-on experience
- Bespoke development: Sharpen your behavioural skills including collaboration, communication, resilience, leadership and more – through workshops and coaching
- Stakeholder management: Work with colleagues across the business and learn from our experts
- Skills for the future: Develop your technical capability and the behaviours needed to thrive in a global organisation
Every graduate journey is different, depending on your team – but whatever your path, you’ll have the support, structure and challenge to help you succeed.
Where you’ll work
You’ll have the opportunity to join and contribute to one of our teams below. You can express your preferences for where you would like to work during the application process.
- Finance: Plays a vital role in ensuring that HSBC manages costs and deploys capital effectively. Provides financial insight, accuracy, and control, using analytical skills to support Global Businesses and influence and challenge business decisions.
- Global Strategy: The CEO Office sets the strategic direction of the bank at Group, business, and regional levels, driving collaboration, revenue generation and improving ways of working.
- Global Risk & Compliance: Risk oversees a comprehensive risk management framework applied throughout the Group, while Compliance protects customers, the organisation, and the integrity of financial markets.
