Global Investment Research - Graduate - Hong Kong SAR
HSBC·Hong Kong
Role details
Global Investment Research - Graduate Programme
Location: Hong Kong SAR
Start date: July 2026 | Duration: 2 years
Overview
If you’re naturally analytical, curious about how the world works, and keen to turn global events into insights, you’ll fit right in.
What we’re looking for
- A team player: You work well with others, pitch in when it counts, and colleagues know they can count on you. Collaboration is essential—we succeed together.
- Problem solver mindset: You’re comfortable digging into numbers, spotting patterns, and making sense of complex information. You connect the dots between company performance and big-picture economics, and can spot mismatches or typos.
- Clear communicator: You can break down complicated information and explain it in a way that’s easy to understand—in person, in writing, and over email. You share your point of view confidently and listen well.
- Calm under pressure: Fast-paced environments and tight deadlines don’t derail you. You stay focused, bring positive energy, and maintain attention to detail.
- Always learning: Markets change, and so do we. You’re curious, adaptable, and eager to learn—whether exploring a new topic or rethinking how something’s done.
What you’ll do
From day one, you’ll be part of a close-knit team in either equity or macro research, diving into specific sectors or economic trends shaping the world. You can expect to:
- Work across markets and regions to help create detailed reports and trade ideas, gaining exposure to different asset classes and global investment themes.
- Build analytical skills by breaking down complex problems and making sense of numbers, data, and trends with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Assess company performance, evaluate risks, and interpret what the data means.
- Develop the ability to present with impact, whether in a client meeting, internal update, or a well-crafted research note.
- Understand the bigger picture: how the global economy, current events, and market trends influence investment decisions and how research supports clients and informs major decisions.
- Collaborate with experienced Analysts and Economists who will support your learning and growth.
- Gain confidence using industry tools—such as financial modelling platforms, data dashboards, and market intelligence tools—to turn complex information into clear, compelling insights.
What you’ll learn
We provide training and development to help you succeed. Your journey typically begins with local regulated training and exams, followed by our Global Graduate Induction. The induction offers an overview of HSBC and an opportunity to build a global network of graduates and colleagues. After completing the Global Graduate Induction, you’ll participate in a global tailored training programme to build the technical understanding and professional capability required for your role.
