About Proprietary Research

On our proprietary research team—Market Intelligence—you will uncover insights about companies, industries, and the broader economy through deep, compliant fundamental research and by applying data science and engineering techniques to alternative data sets. In partnership with our investment professionals and Compliance team, our analysts, data scientists, and engineers work together to produce compliant research and build tools that inform our firm’s investments. We seek bright, motivated, and collaborative individuals to join our team and grow with us. A majority of the leaders in our group were promoted from within.

What You’ll Do

As a Sector Analyst for European Equities, you will work with alternative data to gather industry context and business fundamentals. You will partner with our data scientists and engineers to develop analyses and deliver synthesized insights to our investment professionals to support their research processes. The work is dynamic, offering opportunities to tackle new challenges alongside teammates from diverse backgrounds. Specifically, you will:

• Analyze and interpret alternative data from multiple sources and develop subject-matter expertise on key themes and KPIs driving the industry and companies within your coverage
• Produce research for internal use by investment professionals through written reports, verbal communication, and visualization tools
• Engage directly with investment professionals to understand the discretionary investment process and help drive more informed decisions
• Collaborate with proprietary research teams—including Data Sourcing, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Compliance—to source, evaluate, and leverage new and existing data assets to produce actionable research

What’s Required

• An undergraduate or advanced degree with demonstrated academic success
• One to five years of prior equity, investment, scientific, industry research, or consulting experience, including relevant internships
• Proficiency in technical coding/programming and ability to participate in a live technical screen (SQL, Python)
• Experience using data analysis as part of the fundamental research process in business, public policy, finance, engineering, applied sciences, or other quantitative fields
• Comfort analyzing novel data and explaining concepts to non-technical partners
• A passion for finance, research, and data-driven problem solving
• Strong organizational skills to manage a demanding workload, creativity, and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work productively in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
