University Intern, Disputes & Economics - Financial Services Advisory

Practice Overview

The Financial Services Advisory practice assists clients in Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, FinTech, and related industries. Our primary services include Business Strategy and Transformation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Risk, Compliance, and Controls, and Data & AI.

Role Overview

Interns, working as part of a project team, perform critical, value-added work that can directly impact a client’s bottom line. A sample of diverse consulting engagements you could be involved in include:

• Identifying, prioritizing, and sequencing AI implementation for a Wealth Management firm.
• Reducing a retirement organization’s operating costs by $80m/year.
• Executing a firmwide program to enhance a bank’s processes and controls.
• Optimizing and redesigning an insurer's claims function.
• Documenting a bank’s obligations that arose from laws, rules, and regulatory requirements.
• Redesigning a corporate trust’s operating model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement and automation in processes, controls, and related risks.
• Assisting in gathering client data and utilizing AI to support analysis.
• Reviewing client documentation to understand current-state processes.
• Performing financial, accounting, economic, and statistical analyses.
• Documenting findings by crafting narratives in PowerPoint.
• Assisting with project plans, action lists, issues, tracking, and reporting on progress in status reports.
• Preparing client reports and exhibits.
• Presenting findings to the consulting team and clients.

Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics

• Completion of an undergraduate degree with a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028, with a major in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other analytical field.
• Solid academic performance in your course of study with a 3.3 GPA or better.
• A working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong working knowledge of AI tools and workflow automation.
• Ability to work in a dynamic professional services environment.
• Ability to work well both independently and within a team.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime when needed.
• Advanced technical skills including SQL, R, Python, or SAS are a plus.
• Note: This role requires permanent authorization to work in the U.S. (i.e., U.S. citizen or permanent resident). Internships and full-time University Associate roles are not eligible for U.S. immigration sponsorship, work visa, or any other temporary work authorization (i.e., OPT, CPT).

A reasonable estimate of the current payrate for this internship is: $34/hr.
