Internship Details

• Location: MSB (990 Bendemeer Road)
• Department: Lean Transformation Office
• Project Title: Automation Tool Operational Excellence
• Project Description: Micron Manufacturing utilizes an Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) to reduce manual touchpoints and improve traceability, safety, and quality.

The intern will participate in recurring engineering discussions and cross-functional collaboration sessions with the engineering team and various departments. Through these sessions, the intern will contribute ideas and learn how operational challenges are evaluated and resolved.

The primary focus will be to learn the processes within AMHS and apply problem-solving methodologies, coupled with data analytics, to study practical manufacturing challenges and contribute to improvements in a state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to develop the intern’s understanding of AMHS operations and apply data analytics and structured problem-solving methodologies to identify operational improvement opportunities.

Project Scope

• Learn the functions of AMHS in both Assembly and Test operations.
• Gain exposure to data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Apply analytical and problem-solving methodologies to identify opportunities for operational and AMHS improvements.

Learning Opportunities

• Develop an understanding of AMHS processes in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Learn how data analytics can be applied to evaluate practical manufacturing challenges.
• Gain exposure to cross-functional engineering discussions and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Explore the use of AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity, data analysis, and problem-solving.

Qualifications and Requirements

Skillsets Required

• General problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Basic understanding of data analytics concepts.
• Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar analytics tools is advantageous.
• Knowledge or experience in using AI tools, Generative AI, or AI Assistants to enhance productivity and problem-solving is highly valued.

Education and Commitment

• Course of Interest: Pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics and Automation, or a related field.
• Duration of Period: Ability to commit to a full-time internship period of 4 to 6 months.
