Computer Vision Co-Op Intern

Kitware, Inc. is seeking Computer Vision Co-Op Interns to join our Computer Vision Team at our Clifton Park, NY headquarters. This is a 6-month internship with the potential to extend to 8 months.

Kitware’s Computer Vision team leads in creating cutting-edge algorithms and software for automated image and video analysis. Our solutions utilize deep learning and provide measurable value to government agencies, commercial organizations, and academic institutions worldwide. We aim to advance computer vision and deep learning through research and development and collaborative projects built upon our open-source software platforms, such as the Kitware Image and Video Exploitation and Retrieval (KWIVER) toolkit.

About the Projects

The Computer Vision Group consists of multidisciplinary experts in computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, and software engineering. Development is heavily focused on C++ and Python, with some JavaScript used for web clients. We utilize numerous open-source tools, including OpenCV, ROS, Boost, Postgres, Caffe, Theano, and VXL. Kitware develops foundational open-source toolkits like CMake, VTK, ParaView, ITK, and KWIVER.

This role offers an opportunity to gain experience while contributing to high-level, complex problems in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Kitware's mission of positive social impact across environmental monitoring, national and global security, ethical AI, open science, scientific computing, and medical computing.
• Gain hands-on experience contributing to complex projects in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
• Participate actively as a team member in project planning and execution, including participation in sprint meetings to coordinate with teammates and resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience programming using C++ and Python.
• Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements.
• This is an on-site position requiring five days per week at the Clifton Park, NY headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge or experience in computer vision and/or deep learning.
