Team Overview
Kitware’s Computer Vision team leads in creating cutting-edge algorithms and software for automated image and video analysis. Our solutions leverage deep learning to deliver measurable value to government agencies, commercial organizations, and academic institutions globally. We address the challenges of extracting, interpreting, and utilizing information across images, video, metadata, and text by developing robust and affordable solutions. We aim to advance computer vision and deep learning through research, development, and collaborative projects built upon open-source platforms like the Kitware Image and Video Exploitation and Retrieval (KWIVER) toolkit.

The Role
In this position, you will contribute to Kitware's mission of positive social impact across environmental monitoring, national and global security, ethical AI, open science, scientific computing, and medical computing. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing tools and techniques for visualizing computer vision results.
- Improving quality control by developing software testing infrastructure (using CMake, CTest, etc.) and writing comprehensive test cases for code.
- Running experiments of existing algorithms on large-scale datasets using various parameter settings, and collecting/organizing the results.
- Developing and operating tools used to label objects, activities, and events within images and video, which are critical for testing and training computer vision algorithms.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (undergraduate students should be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year).
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge or experience in computer vision and/or deep learning.
