About the Role

We are searching for a creative, tech-savvy Engineering Technician to join Dyson’s Test Development Team in Singapore. This role supports Dyson’s ambition for incremental growth across product categories and range in the coming years.

The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of developing, alongside R&D Engineers, test methodologies to stress-test new product designs and offerings. This ensures the delivery of robust and quality products to consumers while driving continuous improvements to existing methodologies, keeping pace with automation technologies.

To succeed, the candidate must be self-directed, comfortable working across development teams and product offerings, and ready to get their hands dirty.

Responsibilities

Test & Tech Development

• Support the investigation of design and technical specifications, developing test procedures and acceptance criteria required for product verification.
• Perform testing in conformance with prescribed test matrices/procedures, using developmental test methodologies and/or International Standards (IEC, ASTM, QB/T, etc.).
• Be knowledgeable about various test environments and internal/external automated testing tools to ensure requirements are implemented correctly.
• Support the design, development, and prototyping of test jigs, fixtures, and test apparatus, overseeing the fabrication process where necessary.
• Conduct preliminary troubleshooting of jigs, fixtures, and test systems, diagnosing faults and performing remedial actions.
• Analyze test results and adjust test systems as required.
• Prepare test and failure reports and are responsible for their dissemination to stakeholders.

Product Development

• Support the investigation of test requirements for research and product development projects, contributing to robust and efficient product verification strategies.
• Partner with product performance/design teams for design improvement works and validation of new product prototypes.

Lab Management

• Support laboratory operations and equipment maintenance/calibration.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping standards and participate in Health & Safety initiatives.
• Undertake other assigned ad-hoc duties.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Diploma in any relevant engineering discipline.
• Possess technical problem-solving skills and reasoning ability through mathematical and statistical principles.
• Ability to convey information and ideas at a technical level.
• Experience with CAD applications will be helpful in the realization of test systems design/development.

• Self-motivated and a great team player.
• Able to adapt and react to changing requirements and priorities.
• Able to develop clear, efficient, and logical approaches to work; an innate ability to think out of the box is a plus.
• Able to collaborate effectively across teams (e.g., System Engineers, Design Engineers, Compliance & Regulatory Specialist, etc.).
