KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern to join our International Tax practice.
Responsibilities
- Team with colleagues to advise multinational enterprises on tax matters related to cross-border transactions and other business decisions, such as operational location, global supply chain optimization, and capital mobilization for global operations.
- Provide tax structuring advice to asset management and strategic corporate clients involved in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, and initial public offerings in cross-border transactions; support clients with internal restructuring transactions.
- Learn about changes in tax law through KPMG-provided training and independent study, advising clients on the impact of these changes on their business and providing recommendations to manage risks or realize opportunities.
- Help prepare international tax elements of the tax provision calculation for clients' financial statements and international tax elements of U.S. federal income tax returns.
- Assist KPMG audit teams with the audit of financial statements, including consideration of tax implications arising from global operations and transactions.
- Prepare deliverables such as tax calculations (or "models"), slide decks, memorandums, or emails, receiving coaching and direction from engagement team members.
- Build capabilities in key technologies enabling tax professionals for client service delivery, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Qualifications
Required Credentials and Experience
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a JD and/or LLM in Taxation, or an equivalent program.
- Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have the necessary academic credits to complete their degree and/or meet CPA eligibility requirements.
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using personal vehicle or public transportation.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. KPMG LLP will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity.
Preferred Attributes
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Preferred undergraduate degree or areas of study include business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, computer science, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
- Interest and exposure to a broad range of U.S. international and domestic tax law provisions.
- Strong technical acumen, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI, MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
- Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; feedback oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
Compensation and Employment Information

Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as applicant's skills, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and market considerations. Additionally, KPMG offers a comprehensive, competitive benefits package, including medical/dental plans, vision coverage, disability and life insurance, 401(k) plans, and personal well-being benefits. Personal Time Off is provided by KPMG per fiscal year. Furthermore, KPMG observes a published calendar of holidays and provides eligible employees with two paid breaks annually.
