KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern for our Global Executive & Private Client Group practice in Tax.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in analyzing the tax implications of working internationally and filing income tax returns in multiple jurisdictions, including preparing Federal and State(s) individual income tax returns, analyzing and utilizing foreign tax credits between countries and tax treaties, and identifying opportunities for global tax planning to minimize overall tax costs.
  • Assist corporations with setting up operations in new countries and ensuring compliance with applicable tax and social tax requirements for both the corporation and individual executives.
  • Help clients determine compensation packages for executives on international assignments; assist with setting up and supporting their global payroll process, including determining amounts for executives in multiple locations while ensuring compliance with local laws.
  • Provide global coordination/support to KPMG’s corporate clients with all aspects of running a global mobility program, including implementing related processes and technologies to efficiently manage their global workforce.
  • Assist Associates and Senior Associates with engagement administration and scoping efforts.
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree with a concentration in Tax, Accounting, International Business, Human Resources, Finance, or an equivalent program.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Upon completion of this internship, candidates must still have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
  • Bilingual in English and Japanese with the ability to use both languages in a business environment is a plus.
  • Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
  • Able to analyze basic tax and accounting information.
  • Strong technical and business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI, MS Office Applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; feedback oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using personal vehicle or public transportation.
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, with relatively short notice.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future is preferred.
