Intern, Economic Valuation Services - Transfer Pricing | Multiple Locations Summer 2027

About the Role

KPMG is seeking an Intern to join its Economic and Valuation Services practice.

Valuation professionals at KPMG provide clients with informed guidance on valuation matters across multiple sectors, deal stages, and business needs. They determine the fair market value of equity shares, assets, and complex financial instruments for mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax, and other regulatory purposes. Engagements include pre- and post-deal purchase price allocations (PPA), impairment testing, employee or management incentive scheme valuations, and recurring fund valuations.

As a member of a diverse, collaborative team, you will help high-profile clients understand, analyze, and respond to complex business opportunities and challenges. You will have opportunities to develop your career through multifaceted engagements, formal training, and informal mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Understand how transfer pricing, tax principles, and regulations impact businesses, and work with KPMG member firms around the world to help clients achieve their transfer pricing objectives.
• Research and analyze value chains and value drivers across various industries to evaluate transfer pricing options.
• Research and analyze transfer pricing benchmarks.
• Help prepare deliverables, including transfer pricing reports, client presentations, and client communications.
• Collaborate with team members within KPMG US and member firms globally to help clients achieve their business goals.
• Perform financial analyses and develop financial models to assess the impact of different intercompany transactions and transfer pricing policies using Excel, artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and KPMG proprietary tools.
• Stay informed about the latest transfer pricing and tax developments around the world.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in economics, business, finance, mathematics, statistics, or another quantitative field with a focus in taxation.
• Upon completion of the internship, must have additional academic credits remaining before obtaining a degree and/or meeting CPA eligibility requirements.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, data, or analytics is preferred.
• Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills, with the ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic, evolving environment.
• Professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality service, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to learn and use technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; receptive to feedback and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.

Work and Travel Requirements

• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance of the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using personal transportation or public transportation.
• Ability to travel to and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with relatively short notice.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Compensation and Benefits

KPMG offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Benefits are based on eligibility and may include medical and dental plans, vision coverage, disability and life insurance, 401(k) plans, and personal well-being benefits. Depending on job classification, standard work hours, and years of service, KPMG provides paid time off per fiscal year, as well as eligible employee breaks at year-end and around the July 4th holiday.

California salary range: $80,000–$85,500

Salary offers are determined based on factors such as skills, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, degrees and certifications, and market considerations. Salary ranges for cities outside California are available through the KPMG pay transparency page.
