Intern - Economic and Valuation Services
KPMG is seeking an Intern to join our Economic and Valuation Services practice. Valuation professionals at KPMG provide clients robust and informed guidance on valuation matters across multiple sectors, deal stages, and business needs. Our engagements include determining the fair (market) value of equity shares, assets, or complex financial instruments for mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax, and other regulatory standards. Specific engagements involve providing pre and post-deal Purchase Price Allocations (PPA), Impairment Testing, employee or management incentive scheme valuations, and recurring fund valuations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with statistical, economic, and financial analysis on economic, regulatory, and policy issues significant to clients in the public and private sectors, domestically and internationally.
- Help develop and apply complex financial models to analyze and price complex transactions and financial instruments.
- Support the development of mathematical and computational models to simulate the impact of policy changes or business decisions.
- Manipulate large data sets to support statistical, economic, and financial analyses.
- Write technical and non-technical reports based on research.
- Document narratives on the issues under analysis and translate them into informative professional reports.
- Build capabilities in key technologies enabling client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Qualifications
Required Education and Skills
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Management, Data and Analytics, or Finance, or an equivalent program.
- Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have sufficient academic credits remaining to complete their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Coursework or knowledge in the management and analysis of large data volumes, financial analysis and valuation, statistical analysis, building and working with economic or mathematical models, and econometric analyses.
Technical and Professional Competencies
- Knowledge of data analysis software including STATA, SAS, Python, SQL, R, JavaScript, Matlab, Fortran, and C/C++.
- Strong technical acumen, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills. Must demonstrate the ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated quality service mindset and strong technical aptitude. Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI, along with MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), applying emerging technologies to enhance processes and insights.
- Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; must be feedback-oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
Logistical Requirements
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using personal transportation or public transportation.
- Must have the ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. (KPMG LLP will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visas.)
Compensation and Benefits:
KPMG offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including various medical and dental plans, vision coverage, disability and life insurance, 401(k) plans, and personal well-being benefits. Personal Time Off is provided per fiscal year, along with two annual breaks. Salary details are determined by various factors including skills, responsibilities, experience, education, and market considerations, and are subject to local regulations.
