Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator
The Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator will establish, execute, and deliver facility-specific EHS plans that support PepsiCo's overall EHS objectives. Reporting to the Site EHS Manager, this role contributes to the success of Frito Lay by enabling EHS risk management—including risk identification, evaluation, control, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, and post-incident management—within the dynamic manufacturing and warehousing industry.
This leader serves as an EHS subject matter expert in Safety and Environmental matters within a manufacturing location. The coordinator is responsible for developing and supporting the implementation of a risk-based, prevention program. Key duties include assisting in the implementation of the Supply Chain EHS Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for the site, while also supporting the regional EHS agenda.
This position supports the site team by implementing programming, training, and consultation to help functional leaders achieve their goals. The EHS Coordinator anticipates EHS issues, ensures risk management processes are applied, coaches site teams on capabilities, analyzes accident data, and develops actionable solutions. The primary focus of this role is employee advocacy and protection delivered through a prevention strategy. The successful candidate must be an EHS leader capable of engaging, motivating, and aligning the site towards designated EHS objectives, and participating in the development, recommendation, and implementation of site EHS policies and procedures. The candidate is expected to provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solving abilities to develop best-in-class EHS programs for the improvement of the overall EHS strategy and its execution.
Responsibilities
Major Tasks and Key Accountabilities:
- Implement, execute, and ensure compliance with PepsiCo’s Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and tasks during the first shift (Monday to Friday).
- Support the execution of the site’s annual EHS Plan.
- Collaborate with site Management to support the implementation of EHS programs.
- Identify and evaluate hazards (risks) and implement effective controls (corrective solutions).
- Support and lead the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and the identification of corrective action plans.
- Facilitate and support the completion of a site-wide annual EHS training plan.
- Lead and support site EHS Committees.
- Support and conduct both internal and external audits when required.
- Manage and utilize EHS systems such as Ventiv, myEHS, Power Bi, and Schoox, as applicable.
- Conduct and assist in GEHSMS program reviews with EHS program owners/teams.
- Manage third-party vendors as applicable.
- Conduct on-the-floor EHS inspections and observations.
Note: This position requires the ability to work off-shift hours as required.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Environmental, EHS, or food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and FDA regulations.
- Experience supporting environmental compliance, programs, or improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with site leadership and frontline associates.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and computer-based systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- EHS or environmental certification preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected compensation range for this position is between $45,900 and $73,250. The actual starting salary will be determined based on confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education. PepsiCo offers a comprehensive benefits package subject to elections and eligibility, which includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Health, and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Insurance (Accident, Group Legal, Life), and a Defined Contribution Retirement Plan.
Paid time off eligibility includes vacation, sick, bereavement, and paid parental leave.
