Role details
Project Engineer (ISCS / SCADA / PLC Systems)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our Rail Systems Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, integration, and commissioning of Integrated Supervisory Control Systems (ISCS), SCADA, PLC, and related railway systems. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of technical issues, coordinate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure successful project delivery within schedule and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate is meticulous, proactive, and committed to project milestones, with strong analytical and communication skills. The candidate should be willing to learn new technologies and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic project environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & System Implementation
- Design, implement, test, integrate, and commission Integrated Supervisory Control System (ISCS) projects and related railway systems.
- Perform system setup, installation, configuration, validation, and deployment activities for hardware and software platforms.
- Execute IT security-related implementations and validations, including system hardening, security configuration, patch management, and compliance requirements.
- Implement PLC and SCADA projects from concept design through engineering, programming, testing, and commissioning.
- Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot SCADA, PLC, servers, workstations, networking equipment, and field devices.
- Manage hardware and software integration activities, including interfaces with other railway subsystems such as Signalling, Power SCADA, Communications, OCC, Depot Systems, AFC, and other relevant systems.
Testing, Integration & Commissioning
- Plan, coordinate, and execute factory testing, site testing, integration testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure proper execution of engineering, integration, installation, and maintenance activities in accordance with project requirements and quality standards.
- Conduct technical verification and QA checks throughout project execution.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and issue resolution during testing and operational phases.
Engineering Documentation & Drawings
- Prepare, review, and maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, configuration records, testing procedures, method statements, and as-built documentation.
- Develop and update engineering drawings, system architecture diagrams, network diagrams, interface documents, wiring schematics, and technical specifications when required.
- Manage application software version control, programme change management, and hardware deployment documentation.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise closely with customers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure effective project coordination and execution.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, project meetings, and interface coordination meetings.
- Prepare project progress reports and provide updates to project stakeholders.
- Support planning activities and ensure project deliverables are completed according to approved schedules and milestones.
Ownership & Continuous Improvement
- Take ownership of technical issues and follow through until resolution, rather than only reporting problems.
- Investigate issues independently, coordinate relevant stakeholders, and drive corrective actions to closure.
- Proactively identify risks, potential project challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute ideas and actively participate in technical discussions, problem-solving sessions, and engineering reviews.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to project quality, timelines, and successful project delivery.
