The Role

Schonfeld is offering an internship opportunity for a talented student to join the data science team. The data science team is responsible for creating Schonfeld’s proprietary curated and feature datasets, conducting data analytics and research, and ultimately adding value to various investment strategies.

What You’ll Do

As a data scientist, you will work closely with engineering teams to optimize data ingestion pipelines and ensure high-quality data input. You will also collaborate with portfolio manager teams to extract insights from data, systematically generate features or signals that feed into the alpha generation process, and develop domain expertise across various financial asset classes and datasets.

You will produce curated datasets to standardize research, conduct quantitative analysis to generate ideas, and validate hypotheses through backtesting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data science and a strong interest in financial markets.

What You’ll Bring

What you need:

  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming languages
  • Proficiency with statistical and machine learning packages for quantitative analysis
  • Experience researching and analyzing financial datasets
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, or financial engineering

We’d love if you had:

  • Strong passion for financial markets and related datasets
  • Knowledge of deep learning models
  • Familiarity with AI tools to accelerate work, with a focus on adding analysis and insight
  • Experience with any of the following technologies: Spark, Kafka, Docker, Airflow
  • Knowledge of financial asset classes such as equity, futures, and fixed income

Our Internship

Kick-start your career in finance with the Schonfeld Summer Internship. Over the course of 10 weeks, you will build solutions that tackle real-world challenges and leave a lasting impact on the firm. As an intern, you will join a close-knit team supported by a dedicated manager and a mentor who will guide your development throughout the internship and beyond.

The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $100,000 and $110,000, prorated based on the internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and level of education.
