Type: Full time, permanent

Location: London (Hybrid - 4 days per week in the office)

The Underwriting Assistant is an active member of the underwriting team, ensuring that day-to-day underwriting activities, including data management, are handled smoothly and within the required regulatory frameworks and parameters.

About the Job

What you’ll spend your time doing

  • Assist underwriters at the box, including saving relevant documents to the filing system
  • Set up references for new and renewal accounts
  • Ensure all risks are actioned accordingly in S2000 and manage the deal flow tracker, recording all offers and our response (written and signed, NTU, declined)
  • Perform accuracy checking and prepare notes before Underwriter sign-off
  • Act as Team Data Steward
  • Assist with late payment reports and EPI queries (Credit Controllers), and support data fitness reports (Compliance)
  • Liaise with the Actuarial and modelling team regarding pricing
  • Support the development of client and broker relationships by building understanding of clients and the market, and how we can meet their needs and/or drive their risk needs
  • Manage all queries professionally and efficiently
  • Actively seek out new opportunities to develop new and existing client relationships that meet MS Amlin’s strategic drivers
  • Remain alert to developments affecting the business of the class and report as appropriate to Senior Underwriters or Underwriting Management
  • Participate in monitoring premium payments and liaise with Brokers and CRT where necessary
  • Participate in monitoring underwriting against the Business Plan, highlighting exceptions where identified
  • Support exposure management, modelling, and actuarial activities, including RDS (Realistic Disaster Scenario)
  • Support the resolution of standard risk review queries
  • Support modelling of the US Casualty portfolio, including both open market risks and binding authorities
