Team Overview
The OMERS Global Equities team invests across both developed and emerging markets worldwide. The Singapore office focuses on coverage of the Asia Pacific region. The team follows a bottom-up, research-driven investment approach to identify high-quality businesses with strong long-term return potential.
Internship Role (Singapore)
As a member of the Global Equities team in Singapore, you will play a meaningful research role supporting the investment team in generating strong absolute and relative returns through equity investments across the Asia Pacific region. This is a research-focused role that contributes to the investment process through rigorous fundamental and forensic analysis.
The role is designed for intellectually curious individuals who are passionate about investing and committed to continuous learning.
Internship period: Jan to May 2027. Leave of Absence (LOA) from your degree programme may be required (if applicable).
What You Will Have the Opportunity To Do
- Implement the OMERS Global Equities investment process focused on long-term investment results.
- Conduct comprehensive industry research and analysis, developing a deep understanding of secular trends and structural changes and their impact on the industry and the companies we invest in.
- Perform forensic fundamental company analysis, develop financial models, and conduct valuation analysis. Articulate drivers of intrinsic value of securities researched.
- Present and defend investment recommendations to the team.
- Support senior analysts and portfolio managers with data analysis and investment research projects.
- Participate in and contribute to healthy, robust investment debate, including challenging investment ideas.
- Collaborate with OMERS investment teams and offices globally and help institutionalize knowledge.
- Foster relationships with corporate management teams and other market participants.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Relevant internship experience in equity research, asset management, or other investment-related roles involving company analysis and valuation.
- Strong interest in investment research in the Asia Pacific region.
- Pursuing a university degree in economics, business, quantitative, or computer science (or related) discipline.
- Excellent analytical skills with an ability to generate deep insights.
- Intellectual curiosity and comfort with robust debate and challenging ideas.
- Ability to articulate clear, logical, and convincing arguments and explain complex ideas simply.
- Action-oriented and proactive, with a high degree of initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Effective team player with a collaborative attitude.
- Impeccable integrity.
- Years 3–4 preferred; flexible to strong year 2 candidates.
