Internship Program Overview

GF’s interns and co-ops are an entry-level talent pipeline across the globe. The program is designed to provide meaningful work experience that equips students with the skills to begin a career in the fast-paced semiconductor industry after graduation. Interns receive one-on-one mentorship, growth-focused work assignments, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.

Summary of Role

The intern will explore practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), agentic AI, generative AI, and/or automation to improve how the Testchip Design & Implementation (TD&I) team organizes, accesses, and extracts insights from its extensive knowledge base. The role includes researching innovative solutions, engaging engineers to understand workflow needs, and documenting findings to support future strategic implementation.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Solution Exploration: Research and identify opportunities to apply AI and/or automation in support of project objectives.
  • Digital Transformation Initiatives: Contribute ideas and recommendations that help shape future adoption of AI-powered knowledge management solutions.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with engineers to discuss requirements, assess options, and refine implementation approaches.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document findings clearly and provide regular updates or presentations to share progress, insights, and recommendations for future AI and automation initiatives.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Actively pursuing a Diploma/Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in and/or good knowledge of programming languages, including but not limited to Python, R, C++, JavaScript, SKILL, TCL, PERL, and SVRF.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (BI, Automate, CoPilot).
  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter and to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.
  • Good written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills.
