Data Scientist (Global Payments)

Our Payments Data and Analytics team delivers high-impact insights to help grow our payments business by driving the Payments data strategy and creating innovative data-driven products for clients and internal partners. We combine data science/AI/ML expertise, consultative problem solving, design thinking, and a deep understanding of technology to drive value.

As a Data Scientist within the Global Payments team of JPMorganChase’s Commercial and Investment Bank, you will collaborate with global data science and product teams to deliver high-impact analytics use cases and promote the adoption of global solutions. You will engage with stakeholders to showcase data-driven products, gather feedback, and identify new opportunities for insights and product enhancements.

Job Responsibilities

• Explore how money moves through our network and around the world by partnering with teams that sell, develop, and create Payments’ products—including consumer-to-business payments, FX, trade finance, and more—turning data into insights that impact the strategy and direction of JPM products.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand intricate data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
• Use a management consulting approach to identify and prioritize use cases, with impact orientation, business understanding, program management, and executive presence.
• Apply strong analytical thinking and hands-on technical skills to solve problems and advance thinking to “best in class.”
• Communicate complex information concisely to internal stakeholders.
• Partner with product managers to contribute to the development of robust data assets that power analytical solutions.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Applied years of relevant experience in Data Science and Analytics Solutions.
• Expertise in SQL.
• Expertise in data and analytics platforms, leveraging data mining and data visualization tools such as Databricks, PySpark, Tableau, etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Experience in the payments industry and/or technology-enabled industries.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
• Team player with a commitment to maintaining a positive attitude and high performance on high-profile, time-sensitive experiments.
• Experience in problem solving and innovation.
• Familiarity with the application development process (a plus).
• Experience in programming.
