Associate Manager, Social Media
Bumble is looking for an Associate Manager, Social Media who lives and breathes social—someone deeply tapped into internet culture, excited to make content, and eager to build their creative instincts and career in social media and brand marketing.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Social Media, you’ll work closely with our Social Media Manager on the day-to-day execution of Bumble’s social presence across key platforms. You’ll help keep our channels active and culturally relevant by engaging with our community, attending events, spotting emerging trends, supporting social listening and reporting, publishing content, and stepping in to capture and create content yourself.
You’ll be comfortable organizing a content calendar and filming on an iPhone—or stepping in front of the camera yourself. You don’t need to be an expert editor yet, but you should be excited to learn, experiment, and develop your content creation skills. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone early in their career to gain experience across the social ecosystem while building a strong creative and strategic point of view.
What You’ll Do
Content Creation & Capture Support
- Support the Social Media Manager in creating platform-native content for Bumble across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Get in front of the camera and appear in Bumble social content when needed.
- Capture social-first photo and video content on an iPhone at events, activations, shoots, around the office, and in everyday cultural moments.
- Approach and engage people to participate in social content when a concept calls for it.
- Develop strong social-first instincts, including hooks, framing, pacing, storytelling, and editing.
- Edit short-form video using CapCut and other social-first tools, turning raw footage, creator content, UGC, and existing brand assets into engaging, platform-native content.
- Experiment with platform features, trending formats, sounds, and editing styles; proactively pitch ideas that feel relevant to Bumble.
- Contribute ideas during brainstorms and be willing to help bring them to life—not just identify trends.
Cultural Listening, Insights & POV
- Stay closely tapped into TikTok, Instagram, emerging platforms, and internet culture; regularly surface trends, conversations, creators, and behaviors relevant to Bumble and our audience.
- Go beyond sharing what’s trending by developing a point of view on why something is resonating and how Bumble could credibly connect to it.
- Monitor conversations around dating, relationships, singles culture, and Gen Z behavior to identify emerging themes and opportunities.
- Surface community feedback, comments, and social insights that could inspire content or inform the broader team.
Analytics & Optimization
- Monitor content performance across Bumble’s social channels and identify patterns in what’s working, what’s not, and why across hooks, formats, topics, and creative approaches.
- Use performance signals and audience response to recommend ways to improve future content.
- Support creative testing by documenting learnings and applying them to future content.
- Track weekly performance and support monthly and campaign-level reporting.
Community & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with Bumble’s social community and surface relevant conversations, feedback, and opportunities for the brand to participate.
- Partner with teams across Marketing, Creative, Product Marketing, PR, Partnerships, and Member Love to support social content and campaigns.
- Support coordination with creators, agencies, and external partners to keep assets, feedback, and deliverables moving.
- Bring a social-first, Gen Z perspective to brainstorms, launches, and cultural moments.
Operational Excellence
- Help manage the social content calendar and maintain a consistent posting cadence.
- Schedule, publish, and QA content across platforms.
- Keep assets, copy, approvals, and deadlines organized; proactively flag blockers.
- Support the development of creative briefs, toolkits, and other materials for internal and external partners.
- Ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ensure content aligns with Bumble’s visual identity, brand values, and tone of voice.
About You
- 1–2 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, community management, content creation, or a related field, including relevant internships or freelance experience.
- Spends a lot of time on TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms, with strong instincts for how people communicate there.
- Comfortable being on camera and excited to appear in Bumble content when needed.
- Comfortable capturing content yourself—you don’t need a formal production setup to make engaging work.
- Experience with short-form video editing or excitement to develop those skills.
- Comfortable approaching and engaging new people and bringing energy to content capture in real-world environments.
- Interested in internet culture, dating and relationships, entertainment, and creators.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A strong writer with curiosity about what makes content perform.
- Proactive, collaborative, and eager to develop a creative point of view.
- Notices details others might miss and takes pride in getting things right before they go live.
Location & Work Environment
This role is based in New York, NY. Bumble has a dynamic working environment and does not follow a one-size-fits-all approach. You can choose the environment—remote or in-office—that’s most conducive to the task at hand.
This role will require travel and flexibility to attend events, activations, and cultural moments outside of traditional working hours, including some evenings and weekends, as well as occasional travel. While there will be typical desk work, this is a hands-on role that requires being out in the world—capturing content at an event, jumping on a timely moment, or getting around NYC during the day when content calls for it.
