Overview of the Role
PagerDuty is seeking a Business Development Representative to join our diverse, customer-focused team. In this role, you will report to a Manager of Sales Development and collaborate closely with Account Executives to fuel their pipelines with promising leads and help conquer territories.
You will serve as the initial point of contact for target accounts and drive interest through modern outbound prospecting. You will nurture, educate, and communicate the value of PagerDuty to prospective customers.
Key Responsibilities
Value Selling
- Effectively communicate PagerDuty’s business value proposition to evaluate interest in making a purchase, demonstrating a strong passion for transformation and innovation.
- Quickly adapt to the Command of the Message (COM) selling model and use solution selling and a customer-centric sales approach.
Sales Effectiveness
- Consistently achieve sales goals with a proven track record of success.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration and time management skills to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Sales Execution
- Ensure that your work, and others’ work and information, are complete and accurate.
- Prepare carefully for meetings and presentations.
- Follow up with others to ensure agreements and commitments are fulfilled to support PagerDuty’s long-term strategic initiatives.
- Use best practices in account development to strategically target enterprise accounts, leveraging communication channels such as phone, email, video, and social technologies.
- Employ a discovery process to engage with practitioners and management levels at target accounts.
- Use Salesforce, Sales Navigator, Gong Engage, and Demandbase to optimize sales activities and focus.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage potential customers and build relationships.
- Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple leads and opportunities.
- Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic sales environment.
- Passion for technology.
- 1–2 years of experience in outbound prospecting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior sales development experience (preferred).
- Experience using salesforce.com (preferred).
- BA/BS Degree (preferred).
Work Model and Location
PagerDuty is a flexible, hybrid workplace and encourages in-person collaboration as an integral part of its culture. This role is expected to come into the Moorgate office 1–2 times per week.
PagerDuty operates a hybrid work model with offices in 8 major cities: Atlanta, Lisbon, London, San Francisco, Santiago, Sydney, Tokyo, and Toronto. While flexibility is available within established locations, the company cannot employ candidates residing in:
- Australia: Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia
- Canada: Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, PEI, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon
- United States: Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming
