About bp

As a leading global energy company with a presence in 61 countries, bp’s purpose is to deliver energy to the world, today and tomorrow. We are one of only a few companies that can deliver energy at scale to countries and millions of customers every day. With more than 100 years of experience, we bring together technology, innovation and deep expertise that keeps communities moving—and we’re still evolving.

About Early Careers

Your talent. Your skills. Your big ideas (and even bigger dreams). We’ll make sure you get a lot in return—next-level experiences, global impact, inspiring teammates and exceptional support. We offer graduate and internship roles across multiple areas.

Our Internships

Make an impact on cutting-edge projects. Help find solutions to complex challenges. Be part of a company that invests in you and your growth. You can do it all as an intern at bp. Our 10–12 week summer programme gives you the opportunity to build your technical knowledge, develop key skills and learn more about life at bp.

You’ll be part of one team throughout your internship, supported by a dedicated line manager and buddy. You’ll also have opportunities to connect with other interns, take part in training, and grow your network across the business.

Role and Responsibilities

The summer internship programme is designed to give you maximum exposure to our supply, trading & shipping business. You will be working on projects with real impact to our business. You’ll be placed in a team where you can showcase and enhance your skill set, follow your ambition, and contribute to the team’s success.

Examples of previous projects include:

  • Conducting research and analysis into a particular market or new jurisdiction and producing a strategy to support trading decisions and growth.
  • Producing daily news/customer information reports to highlight market information and opportunities for trading and origination.
  • Using analytics to support our fundamental and demand supply view for short/medium-term revenue activity.
  • Automating and optimising systems, reports and analysis to speed up trading processes and decisions using data science techniques.

Throughout the internship programme, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about our graduate programme through networking, training and information sessions. This will help you decide which graduate development track you would like to be considered for, as the summer internship is a primary pipeline for our 2028 supply, trading and shipping graduate programme.

Supply, Trading & Shipping Development Tracks

  • Trading: Join our energy trading team and help manage trades on major energy commodity exchanges and the OTC market, as well as daily exposure. Experience different trading disciplines and styles, from physical trading to paper trading.
  • Analytics: Influence trading decisions as part of a highly commercial and skilled team. Work in the fast-paced environment of our trading floors with access to vast amounts of data and information. Focus on driving continued growth in trading profits and act as a subject matter expert on energy market fundamentals.
  • Commercial: Help ensure bp makes the best use of its investments in new sources of energy by proposing new and creative ways to maximise value. Support commercial teams responsible for building and maintaining key relationships, developing unique solutions to address bp’s and customers’ business needs, and creating additional value for the trading business.

About You

You have strong organisational skills and can deliver results in a collaborative environment. Your agility to learn and adapt is key, along with the energy, motivation and ownership to make the most of this opportunity. You are comfortable making courageous and bold decisions, have digital fluency, and an eye for analytics and the insights they provide.

While good levels of numeracy are important, a formal technical background is not necessarily required. You bring well-rounded life experience, and your strong academic results are supported by some work experience—customer service and industry experience are all valued.

We know you’re early in your career, so we don’t expect you to be an expert.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ST&S internship programme, you are:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline (e.g., Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Arts to STEM).
  • In your penultimate year of study, graduating between December 2027 and July 2028.
  • On track to achieve a cumulative GPA equivalent to Second Upper Honours or above.
  • A Singapore citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident with the rights to work in Singapore.

Application Notes

  • You can apply to only 1 bp early careers opportunity globally per academic year. Within this time, bp will process only the first application you make, and you will be withdrawn from any subsequent applications.
  • Vacancies are filled on an ongoing basis after opening and bp may close applications before any stated deadline. Submit your application as early as possible to be considered for the opportunity of your choice.

Applications close on 4 September 2026.
