Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) – Role Overview

Credit and Fraud Risk (CFR) is a global function responsible for making the right credit and fraud risk decisions that uphold operational excellence, drive growth, and accelerate innovation across American Express. CFR combines technology and infrastructure with new computing techniques to make better risk decisions and provide real-time customer communications and fraud servicing.

This team manages risks throughout the customer lifecycle across consumer and commercial businesses and across all global products. CFR develops industry-first data capabilities, builds profitable decision-making frameworks, creates machine learning-powered predictive models, and improves customer servicing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Credit Risk Strategy: Monitor credit portfolios and optimize profit-based risk management decisions at all stages of the customer credit lifecycle.
• Fraud Risk Strategy: Analyze and improve controls across all points of business that create fraud vulnerabilities, including product and service design, account acquisition, card issuance, servicing, and financial transactions.
