Purpose of Job
The Analyst contributes to all phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring.
The Analyst will take responsibility for tasks assigned by the operation leader or more senior members of the project team, which may include comprehensive due diligence (financial, market, integrity, and EBRD policy compliance), as well as effective post-signing implementation and monitoring.
Working as part of a project team under the guidance or supervision of the operation leader or more senior bankers, the Analyst supports project structuring, implementation, and monitoring of debt and equity transactions in line with the Bank’s operational objectives.
The role places particular emphasis on research, data gathering, credit analysis, and financial modelling.
The Infrastructure Eurasia Team provides finance for infrastructure in Turkey, Central Asia, Mongolia, and the Caucasus. It finances projects in both the private and public sectors across transport and municipal infrastructure. The position is based in London and focuses on infrastructure projects across the Eurasian region.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Structuring and Execution
- As a project team member, contribute to all aspects of project structuring and execution, including comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data.
- Analyse and evaluate potential risks related to the proposed project, including analysis of financial statements.
- Prepare and update financial models and financial projections.
- Assist with designing and processing technical co-operation assistance, including preparation of terms of reference and internal approval documentation to support related investment projects or policy dialogue initiatives.
- As requested, support operational-level communication with internal units, clients, and other stakeholders (e.g., preparing draft correspondence and presentations, and following up on internal emails).
- Ensure assigned tasks are completed within specified timeframes to a high quality and in line with Bank policies, procedures, and objectives.
Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation and Reporting
- Undertake assigned tasks relating to implementation and monitoring of projects as part of the project team, including compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement.
- Monitor progress of projects and the financial performance of clients.
- Assess evolving risk factors and monitor covenant compliance.
- Prepare timely and comprehensive draft monitoring reports and include recommendations for corrective actions where required, ensuring that recommendations are brought to the attention of more senior team members.
- As requested and under the supervision of a TC operation leader, assist with effective implementation and monitoring of TC assignments, including communication with TC clients, monitoring TC fund usage, and preparing and filing relevant TC progress and completion reports to support donor reporting requirements and operational objectives.
The responsibilities of the Analyst are designed to enable progressively more complex tasks and to expand the scope of responsibilities based on acquired experience and expertise.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant areas.
- Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.
- Critical quantitative/numerical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and design and use financial models.
- Credit analysis skills, including interpretation of accounts and understanding of local and international accounting principles and credit analysis practices.
- Computer literacy, proficient with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages for financial analysis and modelling.
- Good understanding of relevant systems and processes.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and meet deadlines under time pressure.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Relevant financial industry experience from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm operating to international standards.
- Exposure to industry/country experience; exposure to infrastructure is desirable (including sector specifics and regulation).
- Experience in working in Eurasia.
- Good command of the local/country language is an advantage.
