Job Overview
As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll contribute to meaningful work that supports a global mission. You will help enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer by supporting clinical label design, production, and management services. This role involves computerizing (printing) variable/static text on labels using automated inspection inkjet equipment within a dynamic, fast-paced team.
Location / Division
Clinical Labeling Services, part of the Clinical Trials Division, located in Bohemia, New York. We provide leading clinical label design, production, and management services for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, with advanced inspection software, in-house variable and non-variable print capabilities, and a proprietary translation and regulatory approval system to reduce overall clinical trial label cycle times.
Work Schedule
Second Shift (Afternoons)
2nd Shift: 03:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Environmental Conditions
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs without assistance
- Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards
- Exposure to loud noises (equipment/machinery)
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
- Standing for the full shift
- Warehouse environment
Responsibilities
A Day in the Life
Demonstrate a solid understanding of the label manufacturing process for a wide array of label constructions using both automated and non-automated inkjet equipment, following client-approved proofs and associated documents to manufacture labels per established specifications.
- Set up computerized production runs using the proprietary CLPS software, as per SOPs and Work Instructions (WIs)
- Monitor label production for accuracy and completeness while applying current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), safely and efficiently
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
Required: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting, or related field.
Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge and experience in the printing or manufacturing industry with proficiency in computer operations (data transfer, MS Excel and Outlook, file management)
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read measurements, troubleshoot issues, and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to label constructions
- Experience handling fanfold and rolled materials, performing roll splicing using manual equipment, and operating computerized digital inkjet equipment

- GMP Expertise – extensive documentation requirements
- Cross Training – ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Use PPE; stand and move about, including reaching, bending, stooping, grasping
- Manual dexterity and understanding of chemical hygiene
- Use hand tools and equipment requiring forceful gripping, pushing, and pulling
- Lift and maneuver materials up to 50 pounds unassisted
