What You'll Be Doing

The Associate will be integrally involved in all facets of Stifel’s Venture Banking Team’s operations—from portfolio management to deal underwriting to strategic organizational projects. The role combines accounting and financial principles with a desire to learn about sector and economic trends impacting technology companies. In New York, the role will focus on understanding and contributing to active debt processes—structuring, underwriting, and presenting to the credit team.

What We're Looking For

  • Involved in and eventually leading portfolio-level analytics and reporting, including pipelines, portfolio tracking, board material development, and special projects with Group leads.
  • Focused on learning about various forms of debt and their applicability to businesses based on each company’s attributes.
  • Contribute within deal processes—from collection and review of diligence materials to underwriting and internal presentation of credit packages to legal documentation.
  • Monitor a portfolio of borrowers to ensure compliance with loan covenants and report status to the leadership team.
  • Attend industry events, networking functions, and conferences to represent the firm and build professional networks.

What You'll Bring

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Effective written communication appropriate for the audience.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, with emphasis on Excel.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or related business field.
  • Minimum Required: 1+ years of commercial banking, investment banking, or private capital investing experience.

Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Compensation Range

Salary: USD $90,000.00/Yr. – USD $120,000.00/Yr.

Actual salaries may vary based on qualifications, skills, and overall competencies. The base salary is a component of Stifel’s overall compensation package, which may include discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, prescription insurance, wellness programs, 401k, tuition assistance, paid time off, and more).
