About the Role
Uber is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our US & Canada Mobility Operations team. If you love setting a vision, managing cross-functional partners, pushing projects forward to deliver strategically meaningful results, and solving problems from both 30,000 feet as well as deep in the details, this is the role for you!
We're generating vast amounts of data every day. We use this data to inform everything we do: ensure balance in the marketplace, identify ways to continually make the Uber experience better for earners and riders, deploy incentives and promotions, understand customer behavior, develop and launch new product offerings, and more. Strategic Operations Associates are responsible for developing strategies, such as how we balance our marketplace, target and deploy earner promotions, manage local markets, and identify and solve operational weaknesses. They balance improving or innovating new processes with setting and delivering on goals to meet business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Ownership: Help develop, lead, and implement strategy to achieve business priorities
- Business Influence: Monitor, understand, and interpret key operational and financial metrics to help determine strategy and action plans. Develop and apply understanding of the levers that move our business
- Problem Solving: Identify root causes of risks and opportunities, propose multiple practical solutions, and weigh tradeoffs to recommend the best approach
- Process Optimization: Implement, optimize, and scale core analyses and processes, regularly reviewing performance
- Product Improvement: Proactively search for new features or improvements that could improve the experience on and efficiency of our marketplace, measure impact, and collaborate with Product teams to implement launches
- Stakeholder Management: Maintain productive working relationships with immediate team and cross-functional partners across operations, marketing, customer support, product, policy, and legal to scope, test, and implement initiatives
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 1+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, business intelligence, strategy, or related fields
- Excel proficiency (modeling, data visualization)
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Stata, or similar statistical languages and tools
- High-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred
- Collaborative, proactively works across teams, able to influence senior and external stakeholders
- Storytelling through data: transform analyses into an understandable storyline across tech and non-tech audiences to influence decisions
- Data-driven mentality: make strategic decisions based on data analysis and interpretation; comfortable getting into the weeds while seeing the big picture
- Communication: interpret and present data to various audiences in an engaging, comprehensive, yet succinct manner
- Teamwork: maintain optimism, respect others, foster a collaborative environment; work with people from diverse backgrounds and responsibilities; maintain relationships even in disagreement
- Executional excellence: manage multiple tasks in parallel, delivering results in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment while maintaining quality
- Planning & organization: create detailed project plans with milestones, interdependencies, and owners
Compensation & Benefits
For New York, NY-based roles: base salary range USD 106,000 to USD 118,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: base salary range USD 106,000 to USD 118,000 per year.
For Washington, DC-based roles: base salary range USD 106,000 to USD 118,000 per year.
